Guwahati : Security forces Thursday gunned down the main accused in the New Year’s Day serial bombings that rocked this Assam city, officials said.
A police spokesman said 20-year-old Pranjal Deka of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) terror outfit was killed in a gunbattle at Ghilakuti village near Rangiya town, about 70 km west of here.
“It was a joint Assam police and army operation. There were about three of them, including Deka,” a police official said.
