Holding torches and carrying placard approximately 5000 people gathered in front of the Bab-e-Qurratulain Hyder (the gate to the main campus) and walked in a peaceful procession. The procession constituted of academics (both from Jamia and other universities), students and other members of civil society. Marchers were holding placards condemning terror and the slaughter of innocents including women and children and the use of internationally prohibited ammunitions and others expressing solidarity with the people of Gaza.

The marchers demanded the world community to intervene to stop killing of civilians and to establish peace in the region. The marchers passed a resolution which demanded an immediate end to air, ground and naval attacks; end of siege; opening of crossings for medical and humanitarian supplies; UN initiated security measures and peaceful negotiations; permission to media persons to enter Gaza for free and fair reporting; and probe into violations of human rights. The Resolution was signed by all those present on the occasion. It will be forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs and the UN representative in India.
