“Choose subjects of your interest, and you can be successful”, says Fauzia Maram, the first rank holder in the Intermediate (Arts) Examinations in Jharkhand. “Once interest is of high importance in choosing the way one wants to study. Choosing one’s way should not be dependent upon the immense pressure from family or teachers. Then only can one excel.”
Fauzia Maram of Vir Buddhu Bhagat Inter College became the State topper in the Intermediate Exams in the Arts stream securing 379 marks. The second topper is Nargiz Naaz of SVBB Inter College who secured 372 marks. And third place is held by Salma Khatoon of the Ursuline Inter College. She secured 370 marks.
Talking to the TwoCircles.net, Fauzia Maram expressed her extreme happiness and surprise in the bright success she has achieved. She also expressed her desire to be a Professor of English Literature. Fauzia’s father Ahrar Alam added that he had always, and would in future too let his daughter choose her own way. Ahrar Alam is the Assistant Commissioner in the State Excise department.
Muslim girls have bagged the top ranks in the State capital Ranchi. They decorate the second and third ranks in the arts stream in the Marwari Girls College. Safira Khatoon is the second and Nikhat Perveen is the third topper in the College. In the Duranda College and the Niramala College, the top positions were again bagged by Muslim girls, Kahkashan Perween and Gul Afshan, respectively. Shaheen Perween became the third topper in the Duranda College.
Achievements have not been reserved just for the arts stream. Bushra Afreen, the Science topper of the St.Xavier’s College is the fifth rank-holder in the State and the second topper in the capital Ranchi. In the Marwari Girls College, top three slots of the Intermediate Science results were filled by Muslim girls. Saziya Nazneen became the topper with 358 marks. Shaheen Perveen bagged the second position securing 351 marks. Shagufta Perveen and Aisha Zabeen shared the third place with 337 marks.
Not all girls hail from a very good background. Still, they have achieved success with their hard work and will power, as in the case of Salma Khatoon. Her father is a driver. But, no hurdle could stop her strong determination to learn and this brought her success.
Ahmed Sajjad, educationist, expressed his happiness in the blooming success of the girls. Jharkhand being one of the most backward States of the country, continued efforts were made to create awareness about the need for education, he said. “When compared to non-Muslims, the number of Muslim students attending exams is less. However, since the Madrasa education became a part of the Jharkhand Academic Council, several Muslim students are attending the exams. Thousands of girls appear for the Madrasa exams alone.”
