“The rockets were fired from an unknown location and hit residential areas at around 7.10 a.m.,” a police officer said.

Tolo television channel quoted Kabul police chief as saying that investigations are underway to find the location of the firing and whether there were casualties.

The attack on Kabul comes at a time when Afghans are getting ready to go to presidential polls Thursday.

On Saturday, a suicide car bomb exploded next to NATO-led troops’ headquarters and the US embassy, killing seven civilians and wounding over 90.

The Taliban fighters have called on Afghans to boycott the elections and have vowed to derail the electoral process.
