Islamabad : Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Thursday said that Pakistan attaches high value to its cordial and friendly ties with Germany which were growing and strengthening with the passage of time in diversified fields for mutual advantage.
The Prime Minister was taking to German Ambassador Dr. Michael Koch, who called on him here at the PM House Thursday and discussed with him matters of mutual interests as well as the Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to Germany.
He said that Germany is the fourth largest trading partner of Pakistan in the world and the largest in the European Union as well as the major donor and investor.
He said, “I am looking forward to my visit to Germany and meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Markel and other dignitaries which would open new vistas of bilateral cooperation between the two countries”.
Prime Minister Gilani said that strengthening of bilateral ties particularly in trade, economic, science and technology, health and education fields would be the main agenda during his meetings.
While noting Pakistan’s quest for reconstruction of Swat, Malakand and FATA areas affected by militancy and terrorism, the Prime Minister said that the Friends of Democratic Pakistan and the donors countries like Germany should help us in the reconstruction phase.
He emphasized that greater market access of Pakistani products in the German and European countries through GSP Plus facilities would help our country in addressing the root causes of militancy and sought German’s support in this regard.
