Lucknow: Several Muslim leaders from Bahujan Samaj Part (BSP) are expected to attend the Jalsa-e-aam (public rally) of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) at Aishbagh Eidgah on Monday. The move is aimed at sending signals among their community as the function is expected to be attended by lakhs of Muslims.
However, their chance of addressing the function will not be fulfilled. Organising Secretary, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli remarked: “Already we have prepared a list of 34 speakers who all are eminent ulema. They have arrived from far and wide and no politician will be given podium for delivering speech.” He however welcomed the politicians stating that the function is an open house and being Muslims they are welcome to attend it.
Meanwhile, some workers at the conference admitted that senior cabinet minister Naseemuddin Siddiqui, ministers Abdul Mannan, Anees Ahmed Khan Phool Babu, Shazil Islam and several MLAs Irshad Ahmed, Dawood Ahmed, Jasmeer Ansari and many other muslim leaders are expected to attend the function. Several hoardings have been erected in the city welcoming the members of AIMPLB with names of BSP’s Muslim leaders such as Dawood Ahmed, MLA, Intezar Ahmed Bobby (state minister) displayed prominently.
On his part, spokesperson, AIMPLB, SQR Ilyas stated that board does not accord any importance to the political status of any person. “Several of our members are MPs, MLAs and other leading names in politics but they have earned their position in board owing to their commitment towards Muslim community not being a politician,” he said.
The function will deliberate on the resolutions passed at board meeting being held at Islamic seminary. Several social issues such as dowry, expensive marriages, lack of awareness towards Islamic shariah among Muslims are expected to figure during the function.
