Mumbai : There is great potential for increased commercial relations between Maharashtra and South Korea, the country’s newly appointed consul-general in Mumbai Seo-Hang Lee said Tuesday.
Making a courtesy call on Governor K. Sankaranarayanan, Lee said at least 60 major South Korean companies from various sectors have a base in the state.
“There are mega-companies like Posco, Samsung, Hyundai and LG operating in Maharashtra, and there is great potential for enhanced commercial ties between Korea and this state in the near future,” Lee said.
South Korea is marking the 60th anniversary of the Korean War this year. To commemorate the occasion, a naval ship would arrive in India on a friendly visit in July, Lee said.
Maharashtra celebrates 50th anniversary of the founding of the state on May 1, 1960.
