Kozhikode: The Students Islamic Organisation will distribute school kits to about 25,000 poor students of Adivasi families, coastal areas, etc in the beginning of the academic year, state office-bearers said in a press conference. Education Minister MA Baby inaugurated the service-oriented programmes prior to the SIO state conference by receiving the organisation’s contribution to the Kerala Higher Education Scholarship Fund.
The officials informed that the distribution of school kits would be the first of the several popular programmes organized by the SIO for the year prior to the state conference to be held in December. The SIO members will renovate ten alternative single-teacher schools with financial contributions from public people. About 200 students will be provided scholarships for higher education under the ‘Marhama Edu-Support’ programme, organized to help those students forced to stop studies due to financial problems. Financial help will be provided to 100 students of poor families and backward areas in the state for pursuing vocational courses.
The state level inauguration of the distribution of school kits will be done by A Sampath (MP) in Varkala in Thiruvananthapuram, said state president PM Salih, secretaries CP Habeeeburahman and Saleem Pooppalam in the press conference.
