New Delhi : Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari Saturday congratulated the governments of the party-ruled states for good governance, noting a leading TV channel had included three of them in its list of five best chief ministers of the country.
In his inaugural speech at the party’s two-day national executive committee, Gadkari said: “I congratulate all the BJP governments for their success and wish them every success in implementing the su-raj sankalp (resolution for good governance)”.
“It is a matter of great pleasure that days before this convention, a leading TV channel has nominated three BJP chief ministers as from amongst the best five chief ministers in the country,” he added.
Congratulating Bihar separately, where a National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government is in power, he said: “Bihar has shown to the world where there is political will, it is possible to make a good turn around. During this NDA rule, Bihar’s all-round performance has been historic, unprecedented, and spectacular. This performance is worthy of emulation.”
The BJP’s good governance cell, headed by former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar, held a two-day convention on good governance June 5-6 where all party chief ministers and senior leaders were present.
The cell is set to launch a three-year structured training programme for the party cadres.
“We have an ambitious plan to train 10,000 party workers in the current year. This cell also launches its e-training from Vijayadashami 2010,” Gadkari said.
“We have also made a modest beginning on the front of Antyodaya, our unique initiative for reinstating social service as a part of political work,” he added.
“For a sukhi (happy) and samruddhi (prosperous) Bharat, we need su-raj and sushashan (good governance). In states where we are in power we have proved that we are working towards these goals. We should go to the people to show how Congress spells vinash (destruction) while BJP brings vikas (development),” he said.
