PM, Sonia meet Tauheed Jamaat leaders on Muslim quota

New Delhi: The Congress-led UPA government at the Centre seems to have felt the impact of the grand Muslim reservation rally organized on Sunday by Tamilnadu Tauheed Jamaat in Chennai. Day after the massive rally that was attended by several thousands of people, Jamaat leaders met Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and Congress President and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and reiterated their demand for Muslim reservation.

Tamil Nadu Tauheed Jamaat Founder and Islamic Scholar Maulvi P. Zainul Abideen presented a memorandum demanding implementation of Ranganath Mishra reportthat recommended 10% reservation for Muslims.

Both PM and Sonia in 15-minute meeting separately, assured the Jamaat leaders that the government will do the needful in the matter at the earliest.

A source close to Tauheed Jamaat says that feeling the impact of the massive rally PM and Sonia had called Jamaat President Zainul Abideen for the meeting.

Maulvi Zainul Abideen presented to both PM and Sonia a copy of English translation of Holy Quran and his book “Mohamed (PBUH) the Man Supreme”.

At the grand rally in Chennai on Sunday Jamaat had demanded 10% reservation for Muslims in education and job in the light of Ranganath Mishra Commission report. The Jamaat also demanded quota for Muslims in police and armed forces and intelligence agencies. In favor of the demand, the Jamaat had cited the reports of Justice Rajendra Sachar and Ranganath Mishra Commissions.
