Mr Shareef said that the SDPI was against all sorts of religious terrorism. Even though the SDPI was formed by the Popular Front of India, all members of the SDPI are not in the PFI just as all members of the PFI are not in the SDPI. Nairs, Dalits and Muslims are members of the SDPI. The party is working for the oppressed. The party was formed only one year before, but it could gain much popularity. It contested in elections in many places. The mainstream political parties realized then that their votes were being lost. The accusation of terrorism is a continuation of wicked aim that the votes of the downtrodden should not go to the new party. The SDPI will strengthen its campaign against both the LDF and the UDF which are robbing off public wealth by their alternative governments. The party will establish itself in the coming panchayat elections, he added.

Thulaseedharan Pallikkal (secretary) will lead the march in the South zone, MK Manoj Kumar (general secretary) will lead it in the middle zone, VT Ikramul Haq (secretary) will lead in the Malabar zone and Yusuf Wayanad (secretary) will lead the march in the North zone. State secretary Thulaseedharan Pallikkal and Ernakulam district president Muhammed Aslam also attended the press conference.

The decision to organize popular marches was taken following the widespread raid in the party’s offices all over the state in the name of the investigation into the attack on the controversial professor. The marches aim to spread the message of the party to the general public.
