Thiruvananthapuram: The Social Democratic Party of India yesterday marched to the house of the Kerala Home Minister accusing that wrong cases were charged against its leaders, unnecessary raids were carried out in the houses of the members and the right to politics was denied. The march which began from the Ayyankali Square was inaugurated by state secretary MK Manoj Kumar.

The growth of the SDPI has frightened the mainstream political kings and that is the reason for trapping the party’s leaders in fake cases, said Manoj Kumar. They find it essential to block the political strengthening of Adivasi-Dalit-Muslim and backward classes. Accusing terrorism and extremism is the easy way to alienate individuals and organizations in the public. The same has been carried out against certain communities here. Efforts are on to include SDPI in that group and this will be fought and defeated in the democratic way, he added.

Thiruvananthapuram district president Ibrahim Kutty, AA Shafi, Shajahan, Karamana Razaq, Karamana Saleem, Rajan Kattakkada and SA Kareem spoke. Police stopped the march about 100 metres away the Home Minister’s house.

The march was organized following the questioning of SDPI leaders in connection with the investigation into the attack on the controversial professor in which several activists of the Popular Front of India have been accused and arrested. SDPI state secretary Muvattupuzha Ashraf Moulvi was asked to appear at the Muvattupuzha police station for interrogation. The SDPI Ernakulam district secretary was issued a look-out notice.

The police have issued notices to the PFI state president Nasarudheen Elamaram and national committee member Prof P Koya asking them to be present for questioning. Elamaram was asked to be present at the Muvattupuzha police station on August 12 and Prof Koya on August 16. Notices have already been issued against the PFI state general secretary P Abdul Hameed, PFI Ernakulam district president and secretary.
