Iran slams France”s stance for being “unrealistic”

TEHRAN, Oct 7 (KUNA) — Iran criticized on Sunday the “political approach” adopted by the French Government toward it over the nuclear question and described it as insensible and unrealistic.

Spokesman of the foreign ministry Mohammad Ali-Hosseini said in a statement that France’s approach of backing down from its known stance “will affect its image in the region.” He was reacting to a call by the French president upon French firms to suspend businesses in Iran, in retaliation for Tehran’s lack of cooperation with the international community regarding its nuclear program.
The spokesman denied recent remarks by French officials claiming that Tehran was seeking to develop nuclear arms.
France has raised the stakes vis-a-vis Tehran over the nuclear issue, also seeking new curbs by the Europeans against the Iranians.
