Details of the clash were not immediately available.

The security forces launched an operation against the militants’ hideouts Sunday, killing 60 militants and injuring 35 others. A total of 20 soldiers were killed and 15 injured in the clashes.

Security forces in the northwestern tribal areas were put on high alert after militants in North Waziristan scrapped a peace deal with the government in July. Frequent clashes between militants and security forces have left around 400 people dead in the area since mid-July.
