Kuala Lumpur : The death toll of flash floods in various parts of the Philippines has risen to 51, National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Monday.
Media reports quoted NDRRMC’s Director General Benito Ramos as saying that 16 people went missing when their fishing boat turned over, hiking up the number of missing people to 20.
Total damage of infrastructure, agriculture and private properties due to floods exceeded USD 36.9 million, Ramos noted, expecting a further increase of damage in the upcoming days.
More than 309,000 families and more than 1.5 million persons were affected by floods and landslides and were put in evacuation centers, Ramos noted.
