Pretending to be pro-Qaddafi supporters, two protesters entered the diplomatic
compound and tore down the official flag of Libya, replacing it with the old royal flag of Libya amid cheers by dozens of pro-democracy demonstrators who had gathered outside the embassy in Berlin’s upscale Dahlem district.

Protesters chanted ‘Freedom for Libya’ during the incident.

Members of Libya’s diplomatic mission did not intervene in the assault but allowed police to enter the embassy compound.

Germany has been the scene of several anti-Qaddafi protests over the past days, among them Berlin and Bonn.
