Islamabad : Unknown men have kidnapped two lower court judges in Pakistan’s troubled southwestern Balochistan province, officials said Sunday.
Session Judge, Jan Muhammad Gohar and Senior Civil Judge Muhammad Ali went missing along with their driver and bodyguard in Jafarabad district late Saturday night, Deputy Commissioner, Fateh Muhammad said.
He said the judges had gone to Usta Muhamad to attend a marriage ceremony but lost contact with their families. T
Assistant Commissioner Dera Murad Jamali said the judges were kidnapped and their vehicle was abandoned.
The security forces Sunday launched major operation to recover the judges, Muhammad said.
Three lawyers were also abducted last week from Sibi area of Balochistan.
Kidnapping of judges and lawyers have sent a wave of concern among lawyers community. President of the Balochistan lawyers association, Baz Muhammad Kakar said the government has failed to provide protection to the judges and lawyers.
No group has claimed responsibility for abduction of the judges.
