Godhra accused: Court set him free, Death caught him

Godhra (Gujarat): Baitullah Qadri Telli, 75, was among 63 people who were set free by the Ahmedabad Special Court in Godhra Sabarmati train carnage case on 22nd February. But one week after the acquittal, the Death caught him on Wednesday night. He died due to heart attack.

Baitullah Qadri was very happy and was planning to go to Uttar Pradesh to meet his wife and children who were so poor that they could not afford tickets to come to Godhra and see him during last 9 years of imprisonment. He was waiting to get the final copy of the judgment which was to be delivered on Thursday March 3.

Baitullah basically hailed from Uttar Pradesh and came to Gujarat in search of job but ended selling bangles in Godhra while his family still lives in Uttar Pradesh.

He was picked up by the Godhra Police on February 27 in 2002 and since then was in jail.
The locals have arranged to send his body to his native place in Uttar Pradesh.
