Cairo: A Cairo criminal court Saturday started reviewing a request by Egypt’s attorney general to freeze the assets of ousted president Hosni Mubarak and his family.
No decision was made, with the court adjourning the hearing until Tuesday.
Faced with a number of lawsuits targeting Mubarak’s wealth, Attorney General Abdel Meguid Mahmoud is seeking to freeze the properties, assets, bank accounts and government bonds held by the ousted leader and his family.
Egypt has also slapped a travel ban on Mubarak, his wife and children while allegations of embezzlement are investigated.
