Salma reaches India safe after enduring hardships in Saudi

By TCN News,

Jeddah: Salma Abdul Azeez had a sigh of relief as she was able to reach her home in Thirunelveli in Tamil Nadu after enduring hardships at a house in Madina and then six months imprisonment in the city jail. Hers has become a commonplace – exploitation, both financial and physical, of Indian maids in different foreign countries including Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.

It was the search for employment to provide a better life to her family that brought Salma to the city of the Prophet, Madeena Munawwara, as a housemaid, eighteen months ago. Besides the heavy workload at a house, Salma had to suffer physical torture of the family, but her family situation in India compelled her to endure the sufferings for six months and later decided to run away seeking employment elsewhere in Madeena. During her employment with another national who was a good person, police caught her while she was going to Masjid-Al Nabawi, as her documents had expired.

Consequently, she was put in Madeena prison for six months and later transferred to Jeddah tarheel.

Knowing her position, members of India Fraternity Forum in Jeddah met her and extended all possible help and the Welfare consul of the Indian Embassy was able to expedite her deportation by solving all the legal issues with the timely involvement.

Reaching home safe and sound, Salma telephoned India Fraternity Forum, expressing her gratitude to them and Indian Consulate, for solving the issues and making her departure possible.
