Chennai : Chennai was on alert Saturday following two bomb hoax calls, one at the Olympia Tech Park in the Guindy area and another at the crowded Mambalam railway station.
Police Friday night received an anonymous call saying that a bomb had been planted at the Mambalam railway station. The call came from a public booth in the T. Nagar area.
Police pressed into service sniffer dogs and did a through search of the station and rail tracks in the area. But later found it to be a hoax call.
Police received another call Saturday morning saying a bomb has been planted at the Tech Park area in Guindy, close to Chennai airport. A thorough search was conducted, but no bombs were found.
Dozens of southern bound trains passing through the Mambalam railway station were running late due to increased security.
Security has been tightened in the city, police said.
