Bangalore : Former Karnataka chief minister H.D. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) Saturday told the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to keep off its “agenda” if it wanted their proposed alliance government in the state to last long.
“If the BJP follows its agenda, then we are free to decide our course of action,” Kumaraswamy told a local TV channel within hours of submitting to Governor Rameshwar Thakur a letter extending support to a BJP-led government in the state.
“All I can say at this point of time is, this government is safe as long as it works for the development of the state,” Kumaraswamy told TV 9 Kannada channel.
“I will not be in the ministry.” he said adding he will focus on strengthening his party.
Kumaraswamy was forced to quit as chief minister Oct 8 as the BJP withdrew support after his refusal to make way for BJP’s B.S. Yediyurappa to take over from him following their 20-month-old agreement.
The state was brought under the president’s rule and the state assembly kept in suspended animation on Oct 9 following Kumaraswamy’s resignation.
However, in a dramatic turnaround, Kumaraswamy met Thakur along with Yediyurappa Saturday afternoon and submitted a letter extending his party’s support to a Yediyurappa-led government.
