Gujarat : While every state is raining crores of rupees and plots of land on its cricket players after the historic World Cup win, guess how much the Gujarat government has awarded? One of the most vibrant and richest states of India, Gujarat has announced the “Eklavya Award”, which consists of an appreciation letter and Rs. 1 lakh, for Yusuf Pathan and Munaf Patel.
And the Congress MLA of Wankaner, Mohammed Javed Peerzada said that even this Rs 1 lakh will be distributed between these two cricketers. He said to TwoCircles.net, “I am told that Rs. 1 lakh will be divided between Yususf Pathan and Munaf Patel, which is not equal to their ability and an insult to our shining stars.” He also termed this announcement as “a blot on Gujarat”.

Congress MLA, Mohammed Javed Shaikh has demanded a minimum award of Rs 1 crore and a plot in the state to both the players on the line of other Indian States. He said, “Both the players who brought pride to our state must be awarded with respect and dignity.” He also demanded special honour for Mehdi Hasan Shaikh, coach of Yusuf, Irfan Pathan, and Munaf Patel, along with the players. He said, “The Gujarat Government should also confer special honour on the coach of the state, Mehdi Hasan Sheikh.” He expressed his surprise on the formal and official behaviour of the Gujarat government in conferring the award on its players.
Gayasuddin Shaikh, MLA of Kalupur, Ahmadabad, has already demanded Rs 1 crore and a plot in Gandhinagar for Yusuf Pathan and Munaf Patel.
