Pakistan, India can achieve peace by resolution of all disputes FM

Islamabad : Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri Monday said that Pakistan and India can jointly achieve the aim of stability and peace in the region by resolving all issues, including the longstanding Kashmir dispute. Talking to Associate Press of Pakistan (APP), the Minister said that Islamabad is committed to peace in the region and to the resolution of all issues peacefully. He said that the foreign policy of Pakistan is in line with the aspiration of people and based on the charter of UNO.

The Minister regretted South Asian countries were still faced with major issues in the form of poverty, illiteracy and illness, saying that these could be effectively overcome through rapid economic development in the region. To a question about Iran, Pakistan and India gas pipeline project, he said the pipeline project has extraordinary significance for Pakistan and India due to their growing energy needs. Also, Foreign Office spokesman, Muhammad Sadiq talking to newsmen said that Pakistan was still committed to India-Pakistan-Iran (IPI) gas pipeline project and announced that it would not stop the project due to any external pressure as it has taken the decision in its national interest. The IPI project is vital for Pakistan and the decision to go ahead on the project, has been taken in national interest, he said.
