Mumbai : Six members of a family were found murdered Tuesday at a village in Maharashtra’s Nashik district.
A sharp weapon had been used to slit the throats of the victims and one of them had been dumped in a well in Kalwan village, about 300 km from here.
Inspector Dara Nimkar of Kalwan police station told IANS over the phone that the victims were Vilas Shivaji Ahire, 35, his wife Anita, 30, daughter Sonali, 12, sons Sunil, 11, and Sanjay, 6, and Vilas’ younger brother Balu Shivaji Ahire, 28.
Balu’s body was dumped into a well and police had to fish it out from a depth of 40 feet.
Nashik superintendent of police Nikhil Gupta told IANS that the murders may have taken place sometime early morning, but police came to know about it around 8 a.m.
“Our investigating teams have rushed to the scene to ascertain the motives behind this mass killing,” Gupta said.
