Albania works to restore peace and security which are key for prosperity and welfare of all countries of the two regions, Berisha said in a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Ahmed Nazif here.

He noted that his visit opened new horizons of cooperation in the field of investment between Albania and Egypt.

Despite its tiny size, Albania can serve as passageway for Egyptian products to huge European markets, he pointed out.

For his part, Nazif said the viewpoints of both sides proved to be identical on most issues of the Middle East and the Balkan regions, including Kosovo problem.

Egypt backs the efforts of the United Nations and the world’s other major players to stabilize the situation in Kosovo, according to Nazif.

The talks with Berisha dealt with efforts to cement bilateral economic ties as well as regional and international issues of common concern, he noted.

Berisha, now on his first visit to Egypt since his assumption of power, held talks with Foreign Minister Ahmad Abul-Gheit Sunday and President Hosni Mubarak earlier in the day.

Egypt and Albania are bound to several accords, including the agreement on judicial cooperation and extradition of criminals, signed in 1999.
