Taliban claims responsibility for Pakistan twin blasts

By IANS,

Islamabad : Pakistani Taliban Friday claimed responsibility for twin bomb attacks in the country’s northwest that left 68 security personnel dead and over 100 injured.

Geo TV reported that a Taliban spokesman has claimed responsibility for the attacks on the training center of Frontier Constabulary (FC) in Charsadda city.

The Friday attack is the deadliest since the killing of Al Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by US forces in Abbottabad May 2.

Al Qaeda and Pakistan Taliban had vowed to avenge Osama’s death.

Xinhua quoted Nisar Marwat, an official, as saying that 68 personnel from the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were killed and over 100 were injured.

Officials said that the dead troopers were among the batch of 818 personnel who had recently completed one-year training and were ready to assume duties after 10-days holiday.
