Chandigarh : In a move to discourage the sale and bursting of crackers this Diwali, The Chandigarh administration has decided not to give any fresh cracker shop licenses in the city, government officials said.
District Magistrate R.K. Rao appealed to the residents of the city to avoid bursting crackers as these were not only an environmental hazard but could also cause accidents.
The administration has already imposed a ban on bursting of crackers in the city between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. from Oct 29 till Nov 11.
