Addressing a gathering in Bagh in Pakistani Kashmir, Gilani said Kashmiris and the people of Pakistan were an integral part of each other, and added that resolution of the Kashmir dispute was at the core of the creation of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

Elections take place in Pakistani Kashmir June 26.

Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Gilani as saying that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of the PPP as he had differences with General Ayub Khan on the issue of Kashmir. That dispute led to the creation of the party, he added.

He said the people of Pakistan were fully aware of the problems and the difficulties of the Kashmiris living across the Line of Control.
