Diet rich in antioxidants may fight fat

London : A diet rich in antioxidants may fight obesity and help keep the heart healthy by cutting down the build up of fat, a news study suggests.

Antioxidants called flavonoids and phenolic acids are found in many fruits, vegetables, nuts, tea and wine.

Researchers at Taiwan’s National Chung Hsing University found that antioxidants tweaked fat cells from mice, reported the online edition of health magazine WebMD.

Antioxidants made fat cells cut their production of triglycerides – a type of fat found in the blood – by curbing a protein needed to make triglycerides.
