The blast, carried out by a teenaged boy and claimed by the Taliban, took place during Friday prayers in Jamrud town of Khyber Agency.

A spokesman of the militant organisation Saturday informed a reporter about the group’s hand in the attack, the the Daily Times reported.

The blast targeted the Koki Khel tribe as they had earlier contrived against the group, he alleged.

“A lashker of Koki Khel tribe has killed our fighters in Tirrah Valley and has demolished the houses of our members,” the report quoted the spokesman as saying.

The bomber detonated the explosives after entering the mosque through a window. At least 116 people were injured.
