Cameron offers help to Pakistan flood victims

By IANS,

Islamabad: British Prime Minister David Cameron called up Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to offer help to the victims of the devastating floods that have ravaged Pakistan’s Sindh province.

The floods in Sindh province have left over 200 people dead and caused widespread damage.

Cameron appreciated Gilani’s decision to call off his visit to New York to address the UN General Assembly session in view of the extensive damage caused by heavy rains in Sindh, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.

Gilani said he has directed Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar to represent Pakistan at the UN General Assembly session.

On Afghanistan, Gilani said his country supports the process of reconciliation in Afghanistan, which is Afghan-owned and Afghan-led.

Gilani said: “We want a peaceful, stable, independent and prosperous Afghanistan.”
