Srinagar : An army captain who was injured in an ongoing fierce gunfight in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has died, taking the toll in the battle which began two days ago to seven, police sources said Wednesday.
Three police personnel, including a Special Police Officer, and three militants were killed earlier.
Police and soldiers from 18 Grenadiers of the army Monday laid siege around Awathkul forest area falling under the jurisdiction of police station Kralpora, a police officer had said.
“The holed up militants opened indiscriminate fire at the search parties,” the officer added.
