Islamabad : Pakistan’s economy may have suffered a loss in its growth rate due to the floods in Sindh, said an official.
A finance ministry official said the economy may have suffered a 0.5 percent loss to an estimated 4.2 percent growth rate during the current financial year.
“Floods are estimated to have affected about half a per cent of GDP (gross domestic product) growth rate, but this needs to be verified,” Dawn Thursday quoted an official as saying.
The country’s Sindh province was devastated by floods in August due to incessant rains.
The official said the economy was facing a number of difficulties.
“We remain in a difficult situation, but within manageable limits,” the official added.
