By TCN News,

Malappuram: The Muslim League has decided to move legally against forces which malign the party and its leaders in the name of the ice-cream parlour sex scandal case. Two news channels – Indiavision and Reporter – have left criticism and begun maligning (Industries Minister PK Kunjalikkutty and the party) in the ice-cream parlour case. Action will be taken against political leaders including Opposition Leader VS Achuthanandan also, but it needed not be taken as action against the CPI (M). The Indiavision follows a sort of revengeful approach towards the League. The rumours aiming at PK Kunjalikkutty resemble fairy tales and are really aimed at destroying the party. The details of the legal action would be discussed with legal experts, the general secretaries reportedly said.

However, they also clarified that the action against the Indiavision news channel needed not be taken as action against party secretary and Minister of Social Welfare Dr MK Muneer, who was earlier the chairman of the channel. They added that Mr Muneer himself had criticised the news broadcast in the channel. The Muslim League has faced media criticism creatively. The party has been ready to accept creative criticism. However, what is happening now is insulting. The party itself will take legal action against the offenders, clarified ET Muhammed Basheer.

The state secretariat suggested that all ministers of the party submit performance report every month. A campaign will be held from November 15 onwards to counter the smear-campaign against the party.

Legislative Party leader PK Kunjalikkutty, national secretary MP Abdussamad Samadani (MLA), state treasurer Adv Hamidali Shamnad, Kalladi Muhammed, A Muhammed, KV Muhammed Kunji, TPM Sahir, MC Mayin Haji, MI Thangal, PMA Salam, Ministers Dr MK Muneer and PK Abdurabb, Adv KNA Qader (MLA), PV Abdul Vahab and VK Abdul Qader Moulavi attended the state secretariat presided over by state president Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal.

Meanwhile, Raoof, co-brother of Kunjalikkutty who unleashed the new series of accusations against PK Kunjalikkutty in the ice-cream case since the Assembly election campaign, has reportedly written to the Muslim League president requesting him not to misuse the party machinery for the personal interests of an individual. The party was formed for the development of Indian Muslims and it should come forward for the good of the community, the letter reportedly says.

Mr PK Kunjalikkutty was accused in the ice-cream parlour sex scandal case which took place in the 1990s when he was emerging as an important leader of the party. However, he was reportedly found not guilty, but the accusations never left him. Several pieces of news have come out since the Assembly election campaign which revealed that he had tried to influence the judiciary in the case.
