Lucknow: In an embarrassing move, Haseenuddin who is the brother of senior cabinet minister in the Mayawati government in UP and national general secretary of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Naseemuddin Siddiqui, joined the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Kanpur on Sunday.
However BSP disowned him stating that Haseenuddin was never a member of their party. The official press communiqué from state BSP office even stated that there is no contact between Naseemuddin and Haseenuddin. It stated that the news of Haseenuddin deserting BSP has been highlighted by SP leaders so as to gain prominence in media.
Haseenuddin’s joining may not have any political bearing on the prospects of BSP but it is sure to embarrass Naseemuddin who is regarded as close to BSP supremo and Chief Minister (CM) Mayawati. The joining took place amidst the presence of leader of opposition and senior SP leader Shivpal Yadav where the former cricketer Jyoti Yadav also joined the SP.
Sources claimed that Haseenuddin was feeling neglected in his family as his elder brother Naseemuddin did not nurture his political ambitions. Haseenuddin plans to contest on SP ticket from Banda district.
