Islamabad : Pakistan, which has 85 channels, is formulating an electronic media policy, a minister said.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan Monday said the government was working to formulate an electronic media policy in consultation with stakeholders, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
She told Pakistan Television (PTV) Monday that the electronic media in Pakistan was passing through an evolutionary phase and there were many institutional gaps in it.
It is the government’s priority to facilitate the media organisations for better orientation and exposure, Firdous said.
The minister said the issues related to media can only be addressed once the electronic media policy is introduced.
She said presently 85 channels are operational in the country.
