Peace Party races with time, extends support to SP govt. in UP

By Md. Ali, TwoCircles.net,

New Delhi: Not even few hours have passed since the trend of Samajwadi Party (SP) getting a near majority in UP assembly, has become clear and the political equations are getting formulated keeping the results in mind.

The Samajwadi Party is set to form the government without any support from the Congress and the RLD. The latest lead trend suggests that the party would manage around 200 seats on its own.

According to the election results/leads being declared on the Election Commission’s site, SP is shown as having the lead on 219 seats (183 leading + 36 won).

But this fact didn’t stop Peace Party, a rater new entrant in the state politics, from extending its support to the SP led government in Uttar Pradesh. According to reports, which now have gone viral in the media, including social media, Peace Party extended its conditional support to Mulayam Singh led government.

The party has managed to maintain leads on six assembly constituencies including two famous wins. Its president Dr. Ayub has won the Khalilabad seat and Akhilesh Singh won the seat of Rae Bareli.

Interestingly Peace Party’s newly found love, is in complete contrast to what a senior functionary of Peace Party had said when this correspondent had enquired about the party’s possible alliance with SP.

“There is no question of supporting Samajwadi party because we believe that it has captured our votes,” told the senior Peace party leader to TwoCircles.net.

“How can we support SP, when they have captured our votes? We can’t do this kind of politics,” the leader had added when I insisted on my question.

But when TwoCircles.net again tried to reach the leadership of the Peace Party, Yusuf Ansari, a senior party leader clarified that few hours back he had talked about Peace Party’s “conditional support” to the SP only when “they come to us for hey help.”

Importantly Ansari also said that SP doesn’t need Peace Party’s help in forming the government.

Interestingly at that time when peace Party declared it support to Mulayam Singh, the SP was shown to have leads on 192 seats, which has increased now to 219, making any outside help unnecessary for SP.
