Taidul Islam said the construction work of AMU campus in Murshidabad has been stopped under the pressure of a fanatic group. He also criticized the candidate of Presidential Election and Ex Member of Parliament of this area Pranab Mukherjee for his inactive approach to the issue. Taidul said Pranab Mukherjee came several times within four months in Jangipur but never uttered a word about Aligarh Campus while since last 4-5 months the work at Aligarh Campus at Ahiran, Murshidabad is completely stopped.

Taidul demanded transfer of District Magistrate of Murshidabad alleging that the DM has stopped construction work. He claimed that SDO of Jangipur told him there is no instruction form Government of West Bengal to stop the works in Aligarh campus. The work has been stopped by the DM’s order.

Mr Islam also said, District Magistrate of Murshidabad always refused to talk about the Aligarh Campus with the SDPI delegate. So, SDPI has demanded his immediate transfer.

Taidul Islam told TCN that he has informed the Centre in-charge of Aligarh Campus Dr Shah Alam about their demands and next movement.

Taidul Islam also said, SDPI is organizing campaign in favor of starting works of AMU campus immediately throughout the West Bengal. He also said that if their demands not met, the party will give a strike call on the first day of Ramazan also.

He also wants special initiatives from Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal. He said CM Mamata Banerjee visited Darjeeling and Mao affected area several times. But never visited largest populated Muslim district Murshidabad after she became CM. So, Mamata Banerjee should come immediately to Murshidabad and give the administrative order to start constructional works in AMU campus, he demanded. She visited Ramakrishna Mission and donated Rs one crore, but she is totally silent about the AMU campus of Murshidabad, he alleged.
