Akhilesh visits Dargah Saleem Chishti, prays for peace in UP

Agra: Chief Minister (CM) Akhilesh Yadav offered floral tribute at the mausoleum of famous sufi saint Hazrat Sheikh Saleem Chishti at Fatehpur Sikri in Agra district on Monday. CM Akhilesh Yadav also untied his previous Mannat Thread while tying a new one. Akhilesh Yadav also prayed for the prosperity and peace in the state.

CM Akhilesh Yadav reached Fatehpur Sikri by helicopter and halted his caravan as he approached the Dargah. Thereafter he went barefooted to the dargah and was offered shoe cover by the staff. He was welcomed at Badshahi Darwaza by the Sajjadanashin Raees Miyan Chishti and his son Saif Fareedi. Akhilesh stayed for nearly 45 minutes at the dargah. He offered a chadar made of roses at the dargah and a ghilaf. Akhilesh did not interact much during his stay at the dargah.



Later as per the tradition, Akhilesh untied the Mannat Thread which he had tied two years ago during his visit at the dargah. He also tied another thread. Devotees tie thread on the grill of the mazar for fulfilling their wishes.
Later he visited the Buland Darwaza and also took stock of the repairing work.
