“The government has lost its credibility, moral authority and people’s trust. It’s a paralysed government whose countdown has begun,” he told reporters here.

Ruling out possibility of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) bringing a “no-confidence” motion against the UPA government, Prasad claimed that “the government will crumble on its own.”

On possibility of Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee joining the NDA, Prasad said: “This is her decision. We earlier worked together and there can’t be any problem (in future).

“But at this point in time, we appreciate her decision to stand against FDI in retail and step down.”

On decision of the Samajwadi Party to support the UPA government, the BJP spokesman, who was here for party’s meeting, said Mulayam Singh Yadav had supported the Bharat Bandh and also courted arrest.

“Now, it’s a question of his own credibility if he supports a crumbling government at the centre,” he added.
