Jammu : Panthers’ Party chairman Bhim Singh Tuesday urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to convene a meeting of Jammu and Kashmir leaders to discuss the situation in the state, which he said was “deteriorating” by the day.
Bhim Singh told media persons that various leaders of different parties in Jammu and Kashmir should be invited to the meeting “to assess the situation (of Jammu and Kashmir) which has been deteriorating everyday because of the dubious role of the NC (National Conference) leadership in the state.”
Strongly condemning the killing of elected members of panchayats, Bhim Singh accused the National Conference-led coalition government of having failed to protect the lives of the elected representatives “if not directly involved itself”.
Dozens of elected panchayat members have resigned in Kashmir after the killings of two sarpanches (panchayat heads) this month.
