Probe your own corruption: BJP to Congress

By IANS,

New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Thursday challenged Congress leaders to invite a probe into allegations of corruption levelled against them.

Citing the example of BJP president Nitin Gadkari, who invited a probe after he was accused of alleged wrongdoings in business dealings, party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman dared the Congress to do the same.

“Our party president volunteered to go and face media, which wanted to ask questions… Let us ask the Congress how many of them are inviting probes on allegations which are thrown at them,” said Sitharaman.

“Would you please ask them if they are willing to be probed?” she asked media persons at a briefing here.

Sitharaman questioned the silence of the Congress on 2G, ISRO-Devas deal, the allocations of coal blocks and the Commonwealth Games (CWG) scam. She sought to know why no cases were filed against the Delhi government in the CWG scam even after it was indicted by the Shunglu Committee.

“How many of them are willing to speak out on this specific list of things that I have given you,” she asked.

Senior party leaders L.K. Advani and Sushma Swaraj have backed Gadkari’s stand in asking for a probe and the Congress has retorted that it was not enough.

India Against Corruption (IAC) member Arvind Kejriwal first levelled allegations against the BJP chief last Wednesday, related to land deals in Maharashtra. The latest allegations against Gadkari are about improper business dealings as chairman of the Purti group.
