Thiruvananthapuram : Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani Sunday opined that there was no “political untouchability with anyone”, including Communists.
“This includes even the Communists, but may be they would have set some guidelines for this. Senior Communist leader Gurudas Dasgupta recently came to my home, and it was the first time that he came over,” said Advani.
Advani’s remarks came as he was in the city to inaugurate the 30th anniversary celebrations of the Bharatiya Vichara Kendram, a centre for research on issues related to areas that would help in nation-building.
Advani said the Communist party had lost its significance even in its place of origin.
In politics, Advani said, two things were important: Good governance and clean politics.
“Good governance comes when in power, and when out of power, it should be clean politics,” Advani said.
The BJP leader remarked that the country could see a general election before 2014.
Advani arrived in the state capital late Saturday and returned Sunday, soon after inaugurating the function.
