“There will be no hide and seek in our stand. We will fight the local body polls alone in West Bengal. Our party will field candidates only in seats where we have a chance of winning,” party secretary Ashok Ghosh said.

Ghosh said his party would neither leave the government nor the Left alliance.

“Why should we not protest if the Communist Party of India-Marxists (CPI-M) takes all important decisions without discussing it in the Front?” he asked.

“From Jan 25, we will launch a state-wide campaign against the CPI-M government,” he added.

The Nandigram incident has sent a wrong message about the Left Front government throughout the world, he said.

Reacting to the development, Left Front chairman Biman Bose said his party would hold meetings separately with the Forward Bloc and the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP), another ally, to broker a solution.
