5,117 people given vocational training in 4 years

New Delhi : A total of 5,117 people were imparted vocational training under the National Minorities Development and Finance Corporation (NMDFC) scheme in the last four years, the Lok Sabha was informed Thursday.

“A total of 5,117 candidates belonging to the minority communities have been imparted training, which include 2,783 women beneficiaries, during the last four years, including the current year,” said Minister of State for Minority Affairs Ninong Ering in a written answer.

A majority of candidates were from West Bengal and Jammu and Kashmir. A total of 2,134 people, including 779 women, were given the vocational training.

In Jammu and Kashmir, all the 1,352 candidates trained were women.

The corporation under its promotional scheme of vocational training provides financial assistance to its state channelising agencies for organisation of skill development training for minority communities, including women.
