Gaza (Palestine) : Israel recent escalation against the Gaza Strip since the Eve of the Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) on Tuesday killed 22 Palestinians and wounded 27, a Palestinian human right centre said on Sunday.
The Palestinian human losses are caused by the Israeli sudden assassinations and missile attacks carried out by the Israeli troops in Gaza over the past few days, the Palestinian Center of Al-Mizan for Human Rights said in a statement.
The Centre denounced “The escalation of aggression by the Occupied forces against the Gaza Strip, especially the attacks targeting populous areas” at the time when the siege imposed on the Strip went on.
Al-Mizan urged the international community to “urgently and effectively” interfere to halt these “monstrous practices that oppose the rules of the international law and constitute a flagrant violation of the 4th Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War.”
In a related development, the Quds Brigades, military wing for the Islamic Jihad movement, claimed Sunday responsibility for a rocket attack against the town of Netivot, southern Israel.
The brigades said that the operation came in retaliation for the Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli army said that two rockets, launched from northern Gaza, had hit Eshkolot area also in southern Israel.
A spokesman for Israel media indicated that the attack did not result in any casualties or properties loss.
Meanwhile, eight Israeli warplanes flew over a number of areas in south Lebanon on Sunday, an army statement said.
“Four Israeli warplanes penetrated the Lebanese southern airspace at 10:45 am local time flying over Kfur Kala and the Bekka Valley in southern Lebanon before heading towards the sea from Naqoura”, the statement said.
Two more planes flew over Kfur Kala at 10:25 am local time while two others penetrated the Lebanese airspaces at the same area few minutes later, the statement said.
