Islamabad : Four Pakistani soldiers and five civilians were killed in an attack on a military convoy in a valley in the northwest of the country.
The carnage was in the Swat Valley where the military launched an offensive in October to clear out militants who had infiltrated from strongholds on the Afghan border.
It is just two days after nearly 50 worshipers were killed in a mosque on Friday in another part of the North Western Frontier province.
Former interior minister Aftab Sherpao was present in the congregation prayers.
Sherpao was not hurt in the explosion.
