New Delhi : Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee Thursday expressed shock at the killing of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto and hoped that the people of that country would “reject terrorism” and strengthen democracy.
In a statement, Chatterjee wished speedy recovery to the dozens of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers injured in the suicide attack in Rawalpindi Thursday evening. Bhutto, leader of the PPP, was killed in an apparent suicide attack during an election rally. Dozens of her party workers were also killed in the terror attack.
Chatterjee expressed hope that the people of Pakistan would reject such methods of terror and try to strengthen democracy.
