United Nations, Jan 3 (Prensa Latina) UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon rejected on Thursday any unilateral action or statement in the Serbian province of Kosovo that may put peace and security into risk or incite people to violence.
In a report on the situation in this Balkan territory under UN provisional administration since 1999, Ban called on the Serbian and Albanian population of Kosovo to comply with what has been agreed on so far.
His call, contained in the report addresses to the Security Council, comes as the majority Albanian-Kosovar population tries to declare unilaterally independence in the said Serbian province.
In Ban”s opinion, “uncertainty and lack of momentum on the future statute of Kosovo prevails”, which might contribute to instability, both in the province and in the region.
He stressed, though, there is still great hope to find a rapid solution
